Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Talkingskill.com (“Talkingskill”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects your information when you use our website and conversation-practice game (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account information — when you sign in with a third-party provider (Google, Facebook or X), we receive your name, email address and profile picture from that provider.
- Profile you set — an optional display name and avatar image you choose.
- Progress & gameplay data — your level, XP, rank, daily streaks, badges, daily-challenge completions, games played, wins, the languages you practice and the dates you were active.
- Local device data — the same progress and your preferences (chosen language, difficulty and day/night theme) are stored in your browser’s local storage so the Service works offline and remembers your settings.
- Usage analytics — aggregate, non-identifying data about how the Service is used (such as pages viewed, device and browser type and approximate region), collected via Google Analytics to help us improve.
We do not collect payment information (the Service is free), and we do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the Service, save your progress and sync it across your devices when you are signed in.
- To display your standing on the public leaderboard.
- To maintain, secure and improve the Service.
3. Public leaderboard
If you are signed in and have earned progress, the following is shown publicly on the leaderboard: your display name, avatar, level, total XP, current streak and number of wins. Your email address is never shown publicly. If you do not want to appear, simply do not sign in, or contact us to be removed.
4. Cookies & local storage
We use your browser’s local storage to keep your progress and preferences on your device. We use cookies for sign-in sessions and, with your consent, for privacy-aware usage analytics (Google Analytics — see below); analytics cookies are set only after you accept our cookie banner, and you can decline (or change your mind via “Cookie settings” in the footer). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
5. Third-party services
We rely on trusted providers to operate the Service:
- Supabase — secure database and authentication hosting for accounts and synced progress.
- Google, Facebook and X — sign-in (authentication) providers.
- Google Analytics — aggregate usage analytics that help us understand how the Service is used and improve it; not used for advertising.
These providers process data under their own privacy policies. Please review Google, Meta/Facebook, X and Supabase.
6. Data retention & your choices
- You can reset your local progress at any time from your Profile page.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account data by contacting us (see “Contact” below).
- We keep account data for as long as your account exists or as needed to provide the Service.
7. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. under the GDPR or similar laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
10. Contact
For any privacy question or request, contact us by email.
